What is Podiatry?
Podiatry deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the conditions of the feet and lower limbs. A Podiatrist will check all aspects of a presenting issue and provide the most appropriate solution to prevent reoccurence.
How does it work?
The initial consultation includes a clinical history composition (eg injury or sports history), physical examination, diagnosis, preparation of a treatment plan and application of therapy. Skin and nail problems will be treated immediately and home care instructions provided.
What conditions do we treat?
Podiatry treats a wide number of pains, aches and concerns – anything from injuries to lower back, hips, knees, ankles and feet (sports or general pain). We also also treat:- hammer toes, claw toes, ingrown toe nails, fungal nails, corns and worts, callouses, heel pain, spurs and plantar fasciitis.
A lot of these symptoms can be related to the way you walk/run (biomechanics) even the footwear you wear has an impact on your life. Treating the symptoms does not treat the cause. It’s our job to find the cause.
